I have used 1” wide plastic paint scrapers like you might use to scrape latex paint off a surface. You need two. You place one under each side off the knob and gently rock them while lifting the knob with them. Go slowly and the knob will slowly come on the shaft. Others may have better suggestion. Good luck.

Subject: [Premium-Rx] Removal of WJ HF-1000 tuning knob advice
According to all of the docs that I have, there should be no trickery involved in removing the big tuning knob on this radio. I have to do some repairs necessitating removal of the front panel pcb. So, the knob must come off.
I have pulled mightily on the knob and it is still stuck on the shaft. Is there any trick that needs to be performed to make it come off? I haven't soaked it in anything yet, but I may. Any advice or special incantations?
