For some months now the family of Dennis Karski (W9CWI SK), a notable WJ
collector in Milwaukee, has been selling his estate, a huge collection
of esoteric radio gear including several shelves jammed with
Watkins-Johnson equipment.  The family and a group of friends are taking
a big load of stuff to the Tri-County Hamfest this Sunday, Mar 27 am,
8:00 am in Jefferson, WI (503 North Jackson Avenue), flyer can be
downloaded here: https://www.w9mqb.org/2022/03/hamfest-2022-updates/

If anyone would like to see and hopefully buy any of this
Watkins-Johnson gear, if you let me know by Saturday, items can be
brought to swapmeet for your inspection.  After the fest this equipment
can be shipped or, if still available, seen at the Dayton Hamfest.

Among the items available to bring to the swapmeet are:
WJ-9080 tuner (2 avail) 10-1000 MHz in one band, 160 MHz (20 MHz BW) and
21.4 MHz (8 MHz) outputs, interesting front ends for an SDR ($175 each,
manual downloadable from my website)
CEI 704 UHF receiver (CEI became a division of WJ in 1967) ($175)
WJ-9472 FSK/OOK demodulator  ($200)
AM-105 audio switching panel  ($135)
WJ dual microwave tuner 1-2 GHz and 2-4.5 GHz  ($275)
WJ EF-xxx racks for mounting 1/2 rack radios and accessories (many,
price dependent on appearance $100-250)
Large amount of WJ FDM telephone intercept gear (see photos) (items
you'll never see in an museum because the gov't isn't keen on citizens
knowing how easy it used to be to to listen to long distance phone calls
without a court ordered wiretap)
Many unusual WJ accessory units

There will a large amount of other radio and test equipment, parts,
modules, and incredible stuff from the estate at this hamfest.

Other items available, but too big and heavy to lug to this hamfest (but
will be at Dayton, if still available):
WJ-8999 Tempest receiver, DC to 12.4 GHz, 20 BWs from 100 Hz to 200 MHz
wide ($6000 w manuals, has display issues)
WJ-8969 microwave controllers and various tuners and a very rare
WJ-8969C Tempest microwave receiver ($1000-$4000, some units work, some
need repair)
WJ-1650 microwave synthesizer and six tuners  ($900 with manuals, working)
WJ-1204A microwave synthesizer ($750 with manuals, working)

See you at the hamfest!
