The SWLing Post is reporting that Universal Radio in Ohio is closing their doors on November 30, 2020 with the retirement of the owners Fred Osterman N8EKU and Barbara Osterman KC8VWI.  The official announcement from Universal Radio is here:

Fred and Barbara have contributed a great deal to the Premium-RX and amateur radio hobby, and are especially noted for their series of “Shortwave Receivers Past and Present” books.  These have been the go-to reference books for our hobby and the entire industry for decades.  The Osterman have been very supportive of us all here at the Premium-RX organization, and we all have a heartfelt “Thank You” along with all the best wishes for you in your retirement!

The announcement also says:  “Even though the store is closing we will fulfill all existing customer orders and have a large amount of inventory to close-out. The Universal Radio website will be maintained for the foreseeable future to sell this remaining stock, publications and some select products.”  So… keep tuned for further developments!
