[Premium-Rx] Harris R-2368/URR resp. RF-590 Rotary Encoder

Heinz,
I have a 590 but wonder about the need to have a $60 part sitting on the shelf. Do you know if there is any info on MTBF of this part?  And being such a common part of so many premium receivers, adapting one in the event of failure seems like it would not be a huge problem. All that being said, thank you for providing this very important information!
