[Premium-Rx] EK895 display illumination

Dear All,

This question concerns the Rohde & Schwarz EK895 VLF-HF receiver.

During the past few years, the display illumination, which has always 
been weak (probably by design) is deteriorating at the edges (worse 
than on the attached photo). Presumably some electroluminescent 
rectangle is used (but this is a guess).
Does anyone have suggestions for repair?
