[Premium-Rx] WJ-8712-P ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

Greetings List Members,
It all seemed a good idea at the time.................... to convert a remote controlled  WJ-8712A into a -P model with a local Front Panel. Not easy and things are now going from bad to worse.

Background:

The A2 Control Board is a Dallas Ram type 797214A with U12 8712P  ver 04.01.10 and DSP U56 ver 04.02.03

The associated Front Panel assembly is 482554-1 with U10 firmware marked 8712-P  ver 1.00.01

Putting A2SW1 Sw8 to ON gets the Front Panel to display WJ-8712-P but not much else happens, all locked up. Not having Sw8 set to on just gives random rubbish on the display.
Replacing the 8712P Front Panel with a panel from a WJ-8711A, (with the usual A1A1U3 ver 1.21) "WJ-8712-P" is displayed along with the Firmware revision "04.01.10" then everything works perfectly and BITE is passed.

I am suspicious of the WJ-8712-P Front Panel (U10 Firmware ver 1.00.01 in the PLCC holder) and suspect that it is refusing to communicate with the A2 Control Board.

Can anyone please tell me if they have a working WJ-8712-P that uses this set of Eproms and what version of U10 firmware is in their working Front Panel.

Kindly assist me to drain the swamp and reply offline.
