[Premium-Rx] 8711 Woes

In the midst of a listening session this AM, my old WJ8711-3 front panel stopped responding. When I cycled the power it came back up with all 8's and all the dots on the other displays illuminated. The radio continues to receive just fine on the last frequency it was working on. Any thoughts on how to go about possibly fixing this?- can't run BITE from the front panel? But I'm wondering if the symptoms suggest a few things I can check with voltmeter/scope? Thanks for any ideas. Scott ka9p
