[Premium-Rx] Stereo

Sometimes I like to tune in across the FM broadcast band on my WJ-8618 to hear
the weak college stations my regular entertainment system tuner can't get due to
strong adjacent channel interference. But I've always wanted to be able to hear
them in stereo except the WJ doesn't have that mode. I was considering making a
FM stereo decoder card but then thought of an easy workaround. Why not take the
IF filtered 21.4 MHz from the WJ, mix it up to the 100 MHz area, and use the
broadcast receiver as decoder?

I found a mixer laying around and set a signal generator to +13 dBm (mixer spec)
and 80 MHz, wired it all up and it works great. The sharp WJ filters allow the
other receiver to pick up the weak signals quite nicely.

Just thought that I would encourage anyone wanting to do this to give it a shot;
it's really easy and works as expected. Also, no modifications to anything.

Peter
