Mark
I use to have 2 of these type of receivers I used DX Extra for the software
to run these.
500.00 for them.
I am thinking I might buy one again.

Mark,

I’m interested. Can you share some photos?

Thanks,

Subject: [Premium-Rx] TCI/BR-8174 for sale

I have decided to lighten the load of Premium receivers a little bit and
would like to sell my TCI/BR-8174 for what I have invested in it which is
$500 dollars plus shipping to your location. I am offering this up to the
group before I put it up on eBay for a higher price.
The 8174 is a mid 1990s design receiver covering the range of 100KHz-30MHz
with digital signal processing. The receiver is software driven, no front
panel controls, 1RU high enclosure. The receiver is all analog, employs
fractional N frequency synthesis and designed for harsh RF environments with
excellent sensitivity and front end overload performance. The last IF stage
goes into an A-D converter and then to digital processing where IF filtering
and demodulation takes place. A large number of IF bandwidths are available.
The 8174 is similar in design and vintage to the Ten Tec RX-330A. The nice
thing about this receiver is that it was built in an era when common off the
shelf components were the norm in construction and thus replacement
components are still available should servicing be necessary.
I will include a copy of the users manual and schematics and PCB component
placement drawings as well as the TCI control application to change receiver
settings. The receiver control interface is either RS-232 or RS-485, I have
included an RS-232 interface cable as well as an audio interface cable.
Everything is included to get the receiver fully operational. I cannot
guarantee the control application will run on anything past Windows XP
reliably although I have run it on my Windows 7 machine through a USB to
serial converter and was able to change receiver settings.
The receiver can also be controlled by other current commercial control
software such as PCALE for ALE experimentation, Spectrum Sentry, DXtra and
probably others.
The receiver is in excellent physical and electrical condition. Pictures
available upon request. Please contact me off list.
