Dear Friends.

On a FB amateur radio group I recently came across an ex Soviet Block
receiver, the "Cicloida" (aka Cikloida , aka Циклоида ) produced by "Omsk
Research" ca. 1979/1981, apparently in various versions (Naval/Maritime, Air
Force, Army) and considered, at it's time, the Sov-Block's top of the line
HF receiver.

Curiously the receiver posted on the FB group has an English front panel
(and no brand/model markings):

sites show it with its' original Russian markings:

I'm rather intrigued by this English front panel.

Considering it's military status and from some info received from a Russian
Colleague, the receiver was only exported to Warsaw pact allies with its'
original livery.

Would anybody have an idea where this English marked panel comes from ?

My very wild guess is that it might have been part of some old stock which
was exported well after the regime's collapse and when the receiver was
already considered obsolete.

Any ideas ?

Thanks & Kind Regards.
