Hi all,

Thanks for the replies so far.

I've done the usual cap replacements - as you've all pointed out they are
the usual suspects.

I've also had the charred track under the glue a few years back in another
cubic and posted about that at the time.

>From what I can see the continual start /shutdown cycling does produce
voltages which are not nice. However with the odd voltages being used, +8 &
+/- 17, I expect there are regulators on the remaining receiver boards and
that these supplies are not used directly? Having never seen a schematic for
the receiver and not had the need to fault find the logic/dsp or rf boards
(fingers crossed) I can only guess .

Although the manual treats the PSU as an LRU (well that manual treats all
modules as LRU) the voltages used really means, in my opinion, a bespoke
unit rather than a drop in replacement. Of course if there were a source for
the switch mode IC then that would help but I've not been able to find one,
not even a Chinese remake (fake) so it couldn't have been extensively used.

No matter I'll spend some time drawing out a schematic and seeing if I can
use the current board with a replacement IC, or with minimal circuit mods.
Or perhaps look to redesign the PSU with a current production IC and try to
reuse the magnetics for the original board.

Thanks

Greg
