I also have Drake "B" twins, and am aware of the 6HS6 low availability and high prices.
I have also noted the 6AH6 as a workable alternative. I have not tried the 6AH6, but I will do a comparison soon.

Both tubes types has same base connection,  if so, try to replace dead one practically  for awhile and you will see the result...Perhaps you will not detect any difference...
