[Premium-Rx] A request for assistance in choosing a new receiver

Well just several days ago a very nice sounding 6790 was offered here at
what i thought was a favorable price and had good support in the form of
recent tune up and fix up by one of the very best Tech support guys..

That said. buy a Ten Tec RX-340 and don't look back, as your money
builds back up and or your prolonged interest is not satisfied then
branch out again...and buy more.. i don't think a one of on here has
just ONE good or so called PREMIUM receiver, i shudder to think what
some of us might really have, no slackers here i pretty much know that
much..

Back to the 340, it is still current production, American made and
supported for the long term looking forward, light weight pretty ergo
friendly. has good filter almost infinite selection. I put a strong
emphasis on support and the long term use of it.. TT wins in every
category for this..at least for the 340

With the demise of so much Foreign BC stations that is almost a lost art
for us.. i go thru times where i think i will use my special receiver
with my ham set up and could then clear off the operating table more,
that is one of the big lies i tell myself.. it must be from early
habits or such but there will always be receivers only in my inventory,
I'm never happy trying to blend or get multiple use for the receiver
..but what i do seem to EVERY time i go off on that tangent, is
invulnerably end up transmitting RF into the receiver .. that makes for
a sad ass day for me at least.. i would have to move heaven and earth
right now to combine any receiver into my transmitting ability ...

I am not the guy or user who likes to wring out the lowest sounding
signal so some spec's are not that important to me as others... If you
just want to go by spec from actual use, the go to the Sherwood
Engineering report wherein Rob has done all the leg and testing work for
you and then ranked the results by several categories so you still can
make a choice from several brands/models and feel assured you didn't
just piss off your dough..

Gud luck ... mac/mc w5mc

I found a very nice Racal 6790/GM that was renovated by Gary Wingert but I wonder if I should consider additional makes/models in selecting my first general coverage receiver.
