[Premium-Rx] Every so often I just have to stop and ask myself

This thread makes interesting reading. I never knew there were so many
infected with the same virus as I or should i say "weakness." I will
be 81 this March been licensed since 1951 and can't recall a single
one of those 81 years
that I didn't covet every new receiver that I saw, from the HRO's,
Hammarlunds, Hallicrafters and Collins to the Harris, RACAL, WJ,
Eddystone, latter-day collins 51S1s, R-390s, etc. I've just rebuilt two
R-71s and have others in the wings
waiting for my TLC. My collection of working receivers is as modest as
others indicate theirs to be and yet, I can't shake this deep seated
urge to buy others and glory in their usage. At this age, how many
more can I buy? Better still, how much time do I have left to enjoy new
receivers? It's really comforting knowing that I'm not alone in my
affliction!

I used to have a receiver addition and still enjoy my modest collection
of about a dozen - much less than some addicts admit to. At some point I
ran out of room and refused to simply stack receivers in a corner. I'm
now 69 and think about what my kids will have to deal with when I'm
gone. On top of all that, inexpensive SDR receivers like the SDR-IQ
took the wind out of the sails of my RuS EK-070, Cubic HF1030, and
others, and I'm addicted to spectrum displays and mouse clicks. de Ron/W6XY

Subject: Re: [Premium-Rx] Every so often I just have to stop and ask
myself This may sound self serving if not verbose but I made a deal with
her recently…. I’ll sell off the entire collection if I can have one
receiver and one receiver only…..an R&S EB500. She unwittingly or should
I say unknowingly, agreed. So the EB500 is here now and the soon to be
sold stablemates are being slowly divested. Win win? Who knows. Time
will tell I suppose. Oh, by the way, I will be missing a few 12 Step
meetings gang. Cliff - W4NJ On Mar 11, 2014, at 4:30 PM, Les Locklear
