I'm sure, that eventually, the moderator will say, "Okay guys, enough is enough."
Anyhow, I share many, if not all, the previous sentiments. I still maintain a decent test bench, but have semi-retired the repair/modifications activities...even for my old commercial customers. Yup, 51 year in the business and now it's time to enjoy stuff. I really don't enjoy wringing out receivers and comparing them to each other any more. A microvolt here and a db there. I had enough of that and find that we are splitting hairs on (usually) inaudable differences. However, I find that the subjective analysis holds much more credance (and is a lot more fun). Anything that's new, to me, gets plugged into the multicoupler and is quickly compared to whatever else I choose to have it compete against. Several nights of this kind of evaluation is much more telling to me than fractions of MDS, or noise floor, or intermod, or filter skirt response...did I mention that it's fun? I do have some favorites, but I don't dare start a Ford vs. Chevy discussion. I
will leak some info about my current activities with a Tentec R-340 and the ongoing A/B testing with certain W-J and Racal friends, but maybe I've said too much already.
Anyhow, the disease we are afflicted with is not something a 12-step program can fix. This is a genetic condition...there are no pills or therapy indicated.
Apologies to the group and moderator(s), but I needed to vent.
Good signals to all,
Bob, N1KPR
