[Premium-Rx] Plessey PRS2280 series

Are there any members of this group who can help with the following 
Plessey PRS2280 issues?
    (1) On the PRS2282A Rx, the S-meter readings increase with signal 
strength, but with strongly varying dB scale: readings increase very 
rapidly at low levels, and then very slowly at higher levels.  As a 
result, in between stations (noise) the meter readings are halfway, 
and with a strong station only 15 dB higher.
    (2) The PRS2286 control unit I just got announces FAULT 
immediately after switching from STANDBY to ON.  This happens so fasr 
that even the TEST indicator does not come on.  The 2286 does not 
seem to communicate with the Rx.
    (3) Does anyone have complete manuals, perhaps also for the 2286?
