Andy,
I have not scanned these documents. There is no need because I can't do
anything with the scans. I budget my time to pursue other information
in a dwindling environment. Five of the engineers and managers I've
interviewed have died, including Dick Johnson. Many memories are
getting hazy. Dean Watkins memory is completely gone. Many former
employees (sometimes pressured by their wives) have been sending "these
old documents" to the dump. The historical record is evaporating as I
struggle to eek out enough time to do the research.

Finnemeccania/DRS enforces their copyrights, even for ancient
equipment. They do this because of fears about potential repercussions
for violating national security regulations, not to protect their market
for selling documentation. They are actively purging their collection.

Finnemeccania, the present owner of the old Watkins-Johnson Gaithersburg
facility, is an Italian conglomerate. As a foreign company, they are
prohibited from knowing anything about what goes on in the building
beyond the financial reports. This makes the middle management
oblivious to the history. They see historical material as a liability
rather than an asset. The pivotal role WJ played in the Cold War is
irrelevant to them because they don't see it as having any bearing on
the balance sheets.
