Many thanks for the reply Tom. Replacing the battery was one of the first jobs on her. Found that she is 106 Hz high on 20 m band, will fix this later after she has had a good heat soak.

I hear there's a new restaurant on the Moon,
great view but no atmosphere!

I tried t o post an email last week but stuffed it up-. So here's the follow up.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I now have in my possession a working, fully operational (bar FM!) Watkins-Johnson AN/URR receiver. Serial #1.
She looks good sitting with the W-J 8718A.
Only had her home for about an hour now so I'm going to have a play with my new toy.

You'll enjoy the AN/URR74 . I've had one here for about 5 years now, and it's a solid performer.
Only complaint I have is that it gets kinda noisy below 100 KHz.
One thing tho... ASAP, REPLACE THE BATTERY, AND MOVE IT OFF OF THE PC BOARD!!!
A leaking NiCad on that board will definitely ruin yer day... AND the receiver!
I put in extension leads & moved it to the rear panel of the radio, held in place with Velcro.
