[Premium-Rx] WJ-8711A AGC Functionality

I'm wondering if any WJ-8711A users are having problems with AGC working properly? From the front panel, SLO, MED, FST can be selected normally, as do the decay time choices. However, in actuality, these settings appear just for show, the receiver does not react accordingly. The receiver seems permanently selected on FST and the AGC button appears as just window dressing. This problem also happens under computer control, not just only from the front panel.

Understandably when the receiver was manufactured for a specific user, perhaps an operable AGC may have been arbitrarily left out of the specification. However all the hardware seems already in place, and perhaps it may be just a matter of enabling this feature thru software. I'm perplexed why anyone of these manufacturers (WJ, BAE, Signia) would go thru the effort of placing a panel mounted pushbutton, enable an AGC selectable display, but yet have the selections otherwise go nowhere. That's kind of like manufacturing an automobile, placing a windshield wiper button on the dashboard, but disabling it elsewhere due to it being shipped where rain is infrequent ..

Hoping another WJ-8711A user can share their experiences with regard to the AGC dilemma.
