Many thanks to Karl-Arne and Chuck for the detailed information, impressing expertise!

In the front right corner of the unit there are 4 originally unpopulated slots (one of these helds the DIY pcb).
I guess these are for the ISB option(?). What I do not understand, that the unit is still working (giving some sound)
when switched to ISB or even to the further not marked positions. The rest of the unit is really full. Most modules
have their own enclosure and carry a ITT label.
It would be very interesting to get some schematic or manual of some SRT 300 series 
receiver - but I guess this could be a *difficult* task. 

This evening is reserved for further investigation and measuring the IF out.
