What I found for my old wj counter DRO311-1 is: (with no garuantee)

DM8280N     - Presetable BCD-Counter / NS8680N =SN74176
 N8290A     - Presetable BCD-Counter, Highspeed=SN74196, 74S196
 N8292A     - Presetable BCD-Counter, Low Power=SN74LS196
 N8293N     - Presetable Binary Counter, Low P.=SN74LS197

What seems to be a bigger problem to replace is the old DTL-family. I guess these Fairchild circuits are some of these:
