Bill and Al,
I wonder how much of the circuit is similar to the R-1414?
The 1414 has the LO AFC lock derived from the nixie counter which is clocked by a separate 1mhz osc located below the display motherboard.
The 1414 also has multipole xtal roofing filters between the front end tuner and the first mixer. The first conversion circuit has 3 progressively higher frq's depending on the band, that are then converted down to 455.
Also independent SSB and diversity capable.
I have the manual for the 1414 and The Manual Man might still be able to offer a copy.

Bill,
Josh Rovero's site contains the basics.

What do you want to know?
I one owe of these, and have it running. Architecturally it's sort of a
solid-state Hammarlund SP-600 plus ceramic IF filters (by Clevite, no
less) and independent-sideband capabilities. The first local oscillator
is tunable, and a Nixie-tube counter calculates and displays the
frequency. There is an AFC that can lock the LO to the low-order digit
of the counter.
I have an internal interconnect diagram, but no module schematics.
