[Premium-Rx] WJ8888 quad 8 fault

Hello to all,

I was wondering if there are any folks out there who are familiar with the WJ8888.

I have three of them (all different models) - but they have all stopped working over the this year.

The final one died last week, and I'm desperately trying to fix it (despite failing eyesight) as its my favorite receiver (yes - even over the WJ8711, and Ten Tec 340).

The back-up battery was caught just in time - although deteriorated, no corrosion anywhere else.

The radio powers-up - but none of the buttons will switch anything (lights do not change), and the tuning indicator is stuck showing '0' (zero).

Currently I'm going over the power supplies but having problems reading the diagrams.

So I have some questions...

Firstly - do these receivers still work with the back-up battery removed? (or have I caused the fault by removing it)

Secondly - any pointers to where/what I should be looking at?

Thirdly - is there anyone in the UK who is able repair these wonderful radios?
