This very kind of thing is why I DIDN'T take in trade (from China) the tube-type receiver of the two types offered for the R-390 I sent the guy. I figured I could manage to figure out a substitute semiconductor, but with unknown or unavailable substitute tubes you could very well wind up with a non-functional receiver that-at a minimum-might require a new socket/tube.

Hello Heinz,
Thanks. For the information russian type 6C4П that is speciall, low noise triod for Ground Grid Amplifier aplication.
Has 4 pins from grid to bring parasitic inductance to minimum level.
Equivalent from Western Type as follows: EC88, 6DL4, 8255, E88C last two prabably some simple modification will required.
R399 problems- I'm not sure, but looks like wrong power line connection...
If any problems will arised with russian system components designation (it not simple) please let me know...
Will find out some ideas for substitution with western type components.

Hello Boris,
I have two R399 KATRAN myself and really enjoy operating them.
Currently one has a problem with low sensitivity and synthesizer out of lock temporarely.
A friend also got one R399 recently and his ground fault indicator trips when he powers it up. It also damaged his active antenna. It is a Warsaw Pact tube type unit. One 6C4P tube is blown.
He already removed the two 22nF capacitors from line to grounded cabinet in the R399 power supply with no effect. According to the manual there is nothing else which may trigger the ground fault indicator. Hopefully the power transformer is not bad.
