[Premium-Rx] Racal RA379x production dates

I'm writing a piece for next years' WRTH which amongst other things has an
item on the Racal RA379x family. I've been trying to establish production
dates and quantities for the RA3791 in particular but reliable information
seems difficult to obtain. 

Production of the RA3791 seems to have begun in 1996 and presumably
manufacture ceased around the time of the Thales takeover in 2000. But does
anyone have hard dates and numbers? The highest serial number I've come
across is 540 and that example had a Thales label on the rear, so presumably
it's fairly late. There seem to have been at least nine variants of the
firmware and numerous options, not to mention two build states.  

I'd greatly appreciate more information if anyone has any.
