[Premium-Rx] Troubleshooting WJ 8770-1 transportable receiver

Hello,

Recently I purchased the above mentioned receiver from eBay. The radio initially had problem powering up which I found a blown fuse. Replacing the fuse, it had some problem powering up, I left the batteries connected overnight and somehow itmired up nicely. Now, the radio refused to power up, no sound and no display. I turned the frequency step and the display lighted up showing 15 MHz when the selector was in between notch, ie.say in between 10 Hz and 100 Hz notch, but turning the vfo did not change the frequency, no sound at all.

Wonder whether any WJ 8770 brothers encountered this kind of problem and managed to trace the source of problem?  My initial suspect is the under voltagemcutoff circuit malfunction but I might be wrong.  Does stripping down the radio, cleaning all circuit board and connectors and then assemble it back usually helps??
