[Premium-Rx] Preselector for HF Receiver

Enrique,

The RF-551A is an amazing preselector; however, its strengths probably don't matter to most HF listeners.

It is designed for installations where full duplex HF radiotelephone operation occurs. We use these for ARRL Field Day. It is possible to listen on 7 MHz while 1500 Watt transmissions are taking place on an adjacent antenna. It will operate nominally with high amplitude RF coming in the receive antenna input.

The downside is that it has a relatively high noise figure.

I suspect there are good passive preselectors out there that don't impact the noise figure as severely. I use an F-1238/URR-62 passive preselector with my WJ-8712.

Subject: [Premium-Rx] Preselector for HF Receiver

 Hello all,

I am quite confused about what preselector to choose for my Racal 1772 receiver.   Single pole or four pole?

Recently, I have read an article about preselectors and says that one pole provides outstanding protection against out of band interferences.

Harris RF 551 A could be a good election but it start to work from 2 Mhz and I am interested in a full coverage of HF spectrum.

Any recommendation or advice would be greatly appreciate.

  Thank you very much.

  Regards
