Greetings to All,

For some time I have been investigating the generally poor Agc performance
of the AEG E1800/3 Receiver.

This is the one specific area that lets this otherwise superb receiver
down.

One consideration is the use of diodes to limit large IF signal excursions
to typically 6dB above the nominal level. (more info see - Communication
Receivers Principles & Design. Rohde et al. McGraw-Hill)

The methodology was used in the R&S EK070, one of the few receivers that
really does have a truly excellent and pleasant Agc action.

I am trying to find a source of High Conductance Diodes, either HP5082-1001
 (1N4456) or HP5082-1006.

Does anyone know where these can be obtained please?

They seem to be totally unobtainable, certainly here in UK, rather like
everything else now.

Please reply offline. Thanks.
