Dear Richard
I have only seen one W-J8888 in the flesh - it was at Telford a long time
ago - and I was greatly taken by its looks and beautiful build quality. Def
counts as a premium receiver for me at least.
Unfortunately it had a fault. It was the model with variable speed tuning.
When you stopped tuning the frequency display kept going, and when you
reversed tuning it overshot again like a twangy spring, and you could never
tune to the station you wanted. This looked like a seriously tedious
problem, and without a manual I was not tempted.
Much later I was told that this is quite a common problem and is caused by
an earthing fault. Do you you know of this problem and the cure?
