Dear John
Many thanks for the email tonight. This theme has really generated a great
deal of views and good info, and I'm learning something new every evening.
I do in fact have both versions of the MA1105 bargraph. My B version was
obtained new at a reasonable price from Telford Electronics through my good
mate there, Marc, specifically to work with my RA1792.
The DK43s were going quite cheap a few years ago at the Kempton Park rally.
I bought one and a while later Pat, G3YFK most kindly sent me one out of the
blue as it was no use to him.
I suspect I may have contributed to the hike in interest and cost by
describing them in reasonably glowing terms in my article in Radio Bygones
on the various uses of an IF output.
Andy G7JQL acquired one too and (clever clogs) traced the circuit and drew
it professionally with a CAD program. I have it in Adobe form here if
anyone needs a copy.

Dear Michael,
The MA1105 came in two models, one for 1.4MHz/100kHz and the /B version for
455kHz, only, that just has a different crystal [the division ratio gives
some weird second frequency that's no use]. I have one of each. I bought
them both as new years ago from Birkett's and assumed at the time that
they'd be identical - it's only the serial number plate on the back that
shows the "/B". The 455kHz one is in use with my RA6790.
My RA1781 and RA1782 receivers [both models are "specials" for GCHQ and that
is presumably where they came from originally] all have a 100kHz output.
I've seen three DK43s on eBay during the last couple of years, but they went
for a higher price than I was interested in paying....
73s,
John G.
