I also have a v03.02.00 8711A (w/preselector), however, mine seems to not
have any bugs (knock on wood!). I would be interested in any responses to
Pat's upgrade question being posted to the list.
I don't hold out much hope as I had contacted WJ shortly after I acquired
the receiver and the response from them was not encouraging. However,
perhaps a list member may have "more encouraging" info. That said, however,
in reading the "version history" in the receiver's manual, I'm not certain
I'd personally benefit much, if any, from a "version upgrade."
By the way, I agree with Pat about the controls being intuitive. And I
think the 8711A is a dream to operate. I would have liked to have seen WJ
design the unit with a Racal-style Hall-effect keypad for direct frequency
entry, but other than that, I think it's ergonomically and functionally
great!

Subject: [Premium-Rx] WJ-8711A Upgrade. Hopeful or not?
Greetings All,
I would like to upgrade my ver.03.02.00 receiver which has some minor
operation bugs. For example, when recalling stored channels it recalls
stored
"slow" agc settings as "fast".
It has the "old" pcb in it and (ideally) I would like to take it up to
ver. 04.01.03.
If you don't ask you don't get and I just wondered if anyone might be able
to help please?
It is a shame that no one produces a modern direct sampling/SDR receiver
with a real genuine "hands on" front panel as intuitive to use as the
WJ-8711A. Or have I missed something?
Please reply off line and many thanks,
Pat G3YFK
