[Premium-Rx] Watkins Johnson WJ-8716 Battery

For two days now, I have refrained from posting this inquiry for fear of
being branded by the members as being just plain stupid. However, I have
given up my search for an answer and will take what`s coming to me.
Earlier this week, I took delivery of a WJ-8716 in very nice condition. I
immediately discovered that the unit would not hold it`s frequency when shut
off and turned on again. I am familiar enough with these receivers to know
where the battery used to be located but it is not there. The WJ8716/8718
manual portrays the A6A1 card with battery attached and the corresponding
schematic shows the same. My A6A1 card never had provision for battery
installation as it is totally different from the card portrayed in the
manual. Also, there is no evidence of a battery installation ³ off-board
³ anywhere in the unit. The part number on my A6A1 card is 794308-1 if that
is any help. The unit has a very early 3-digit serial number but we all know
that nameplates are made to be changed !
I would truly appreciate some input here as this situation has puzzled me
long enough prior to seeking help from you guys. Many thanks in advance.
