Agree totally with John that this topic is the equivalent of an Afghanistan
minefield. We all went round and round in ever-decreasing circles back when
I was a regular contributor to the site, and having recently started reading
again I am amazed to find we are back where we began. Once you start trying
to measure really high intercept points (as one who spent a long time on it)
you begin to realise that you are actually measuring intermodulation
products generated by passive components and not the device you thought you
were testing. If you want to explore this, just do a Google search on
"Passive Intermodulation Products" and see how much intermod can be
generated by an N Type connector....!
Don't go down this road unless you fully understand where you are going.
