I have one. It is basically the "headless" version of the RX340 - that is,
it has no front-panel controls except on/off. It performs identically to the
RX340 - EXCEPT:
This appears to be true of all radios when you computer control them.
On the version with the big tuning wheel (the RX340 in this case), the
tuning is nice and smooth and continuous.
When you tune using the computer, it clicks badly when moving from one
frequency to the next. It may just be that the control program (ergo4) isn't
sending the correct commands, but so far, all the computer controllable
receivers (R-8B, IC-9000, etc) don't tune smoothly when under computer
control.
Bummer.
Oh yes - the RX-331 (and RX-340) are fabulous receivers. Very sensitive,
very versatile. No complaints. Very much in the R-8B "mold". If you are
comfortable with a computer-controlled receiver and can live with the
"quantized" tuning, then you will love the RX-331. Makes a lot of other
receivers look like toys.
