I agree with you there, Barry.  I have owned both.  Guess which one I still have....it's not the 340.  I found the 2050 to be a wonderful receiver, and as long as the power supply was kept cool, had the sweetest audio of any solid state receiver I've ever owned.  Sold the 340, primarily since it was a terrible MW receiver (although great on HF SSB), and just too much money for what I was using it for....Walt Salmaniw, Victoria, BC
