G'day to the Premium Receivers list members !
I am offering the following for sale as one kit:
(If interested, PLEASE read the entire message body, and ask any questions prior to consideration)
1.) WJ 9073-2 Tracking Preselector for WJ8617B and WJ8618B series receivers, serial number 12. (19" x 1.75" high).
2.) Three copies of DRS Instruction Manual, one loose, one in notebook and one CD-ROM.
3.) Printed Circuit Assembly 796261-5 Asynchronous Interface Assembly, with firmware PRE v 2.2.1 (This is the COAX option, not the fiber optic).
4.) Cable Assembly 280502-1 (SMB to BNC with option mounting plate).
5.) Six foot BNC-M to BNC-M to connect the coax interface to the tracking preselector.
6.) AC mains power cord.
PLEASE NOTE:
This set is working, and tested. It was removed from a working WJ8618B receiver that was re-purposed, and the option was not needed.
All of the components are in near mint condition and fully functional.
If you have read this far, you are probably familiar with this (PRE) option. However, in brief:
"The WJ9073-2 Tracking Preselector is intended for use with WJ8617B and WJ8618B receivers to provide additional rejection of undesired signals that could cause intermodulation distortion within the receiver. It covers a 20 to 1100 MHz frequency range in five frequency bands and continuously tunes with the receiver to maintain a center frequency equal to the tuned frequency of the receiver. The 20 - 500 MHz frequency range is covered in four bands of 20 - 48, 48 - 120, 120 - 245,and 245 - 500 MHz. Each band is comprised of a two-pole veractor tuned filter that maintains a 3 dB bandwidth of 10 +/- 3% of the receivers tuned frequency. The 500 to 1100 MHz frequency range is covered in one band consisting of a two-pole veractor tuned filter. This filter maintains a 3 dB bandwidth of 15 +/- 3% of the receiver tuned frequency.
The antenna inputs are provided to permit flexible antenna configurations. A single antenna, connected to the ANTENNA 1 input can be used to cover the entire 20 - 1100 MHz frequency range, or the frequency range can be covered using two antennas. Using two antennas, the lower frequency antenna connects to the ANTENNA 1 input and the higher frequency antenna connects to the ANTENNA 2 input. Antenna switching occurs automatically as the receiver tunes past a predetermined point as preset at the ANTENNA 1 - ANTENNA 2 SWITCHOVER FREQUENCY thumbwheel switches on the front panel. The ANTENNA 1 - ANTENNA 2 SWITCHOVER FREQUENCY control permits the switching frequency to be preset at any point between 20 and 990 MHz and is set in 10 and 100 MHz increments. As the receiver tunes past the preset, switching automatically occurs.
An amplifier with a variable output level, contained in the WJ-9073-2 Tracking Preselector provides up to 19 dB of gain to compensate for cable loss when the antenna and receiver are separated by a considerable length of RF cable. It can be set for flat gain across the 20 - 1100 MHz frequency range, or the gain at 20 MHz and at 500 or 1100 MHz can be set individually to provide a gain slope that matches the attenuation versus frequency characteristics of the RF cable used.
Control of preselector tracking, band switching, antenna switching, and gain is provided by an internal microprocessor. It receives tuning data from the receiver and uses this data to select the proper preselector band and tunes the bandpass filter center frequency to the receiver tuned frequency. The receiver data is also used to select the appropriate antenna and set the output gain as determined by the preselector front panel controls."
CRITICAL NOTES:
1.) There are about five minor wiring modifications needed to install this option. They are simple and clearly described in the manual. You will need a wire wrap tool to complete the mods.
2.) Connector plate (provided) needs to be installed on the rear of the receiver where the "OPTION" plate resides.
3.) Should this option be installed, note that the following options will be functionally disabled = RLOG, ASO and DFC. All other options and functions of the receiver are unaffected.
4.) FIRMWARE REQUIREMENTS for receiver CPU (A5A3) card:
**** Receiver Serial Number 1 to 206 = 1.7.9
**** Receiver Serial Number 207 and above = 2.1.4 OR greater
As I have a growing distaste for eBay / PayPal, I would like to offer this WJ option to members of this list prior to putting the set up for auction.
I am asking $500 + shipping. Other offers will be considered. Please contact me off-list with any questions. I will have images very soon to anyone interested. Let me know.
Best regards to all !
