You can actually set the AM filter bandwidth to 10 kHz max.

I own an Icom IC-7700.   Unlike the K3, which has only a 4 khz passband,
even for AM, the 7700 dsp passband on AM can be adjusted up to 9khz.   I
think it sounds "Mahvelous".
