Hello and Greetings to All,
I now have in for repair a "special" version of an Racal RA1772 with "MOD
82" written on the rear panel.
This has a version 1 shaft encoder with incandescent lamps.
It also has an UP/DOWN FREQUENCY STEP switch (GPO Type) where the LHS Phones
jack socket is normally located. There is also an additional PCB on the
chassis RH side panel located behind the Meter labelled 59-0508 ver 1.
The shaft encoder does not work properly and I suspect one of the
phototransistors has gone low but I am also not sure if the UP/DOWN switch is working
correctly.
One would have thought that holding the switch in either operation position
would have caused the frequency to automatically increment up or down. (Rather
like the Telefunken E1500/1does). As it is now the switch has to be
physically toggled each time to produce a switching action. Is this correct?
I would appreciate any info that you may be able to provide. The last time I
saw one of these versions was over 20 years ago!
Regards and 73,
Pat G3YFK
