I have a A5 ISB board which is used in the Racal RA-6790/GM and RA-6793A
receivers.
It has a connecter known as W1 which has 34 pins soldered into the pcb and
has a
ribbon cable attacthed to it. I need to buy this connector, but I don't know
what it is called.
Racal is not very desciptive about there components, which leaves you with
little clue as to
what it is and where to buy it. please help?

Hi Lee

I don't have a 6790 these days but, as far as I know, this is likely to be a
bog standard PCB cable header.

These come in various sizes but 34 pin also happens to be the size used for
3 1/2 inch floppy drives in IBM PCs and compatibles and you should be able to
get hold of an old floppy drive cable without too much trouble.

If it's the PCB connector itself you need then any 34 pin header should
again do the job.
Stripping one from an old motherboard or interface card is still likely to
be one option, but it should be much easier to buy just a 34 pin PCB header
than a complete cable assembly.

regards
