I have found a possible replacement for the DS8857J the MC14547 which will handle up to 65mA
the pinout is the same. There is also the HDSP-E103 these are rated at 45mA

I've been able to reduce the voltage/current on LEDs a lot and still be able to see the display.
Add a few series diodes in the LED common VCC lead or ground lead. This will reduce voltage and current.frank

Yes it is as I can not anything else to do the same current the only one that came close
is the cd4511 but it will only handle 25ma and I have not found any leds which have the same pinouts
and only 25ma. the lowest current hp leds go is with their low current series but that is 45ma.

So yes it looks like it unless I redesign the pcb

Cut each lead of the IC and remove the package then 1 pin at a time. MEK should loosen it up. Auto paint thinner may also work.

                  Hello Everyone

This is the next installment of the saga to repair my display board for the WJ AN/URR-74.

What do you use to remove the conformal coating, as I have desoldered the U8 chip.

It is stuck there. Any ideas?
