[Premium-Rx] Racal RA1792 troubles

Does anyone on the list have any suggestions about a Racal RA1792 that appears to be mostly brain dead.  The unit does power up but only displays 00000000 on the frequency display and displays 0  00  0 (or similar) on the channel display.  The tuning knob and any/all buttons do not seem to make any changes whatsoever on the display.

This unit was acquired sight unseen via a closeout auction of equipment from the W.J. Ford test equipment supplier so it may have been sitting for quite a while.  I was wondering (hoping) whether this might be as simple as a processor board with a dead battery or something similar.

Any suggestions, hints or technical mumbo jumbo would be greatly appreciated.  I can also be contacted off the list at 'canton at shawbiz.ca'
