Hello to everyone on the list!
I own a rare receiver made by F.G. Mason Engineering, Inc., Fairfield, CT
which is no longer in business. It is a Model A-2 receiver with 12 modular
plug-in tuners that cover 2KHz to 2GHz and includes a sweep oscilloscope.
The radio can be run on AC or battery power and comes with adapters for
various countries power outlets. The power supply auto switches between
250/170/128/95 VAC at 50/60Hz. Of note is that there is also a custom made
wireless microphone bug as well which I havent tested yet as it uses an
unconventional battery size.
>From the limited information Ive been able to find these radios were
manufactured in the mid 1960s and only sold to government agencies. All of
the modules have hand printed dials for tuning and everything fits neatly in
its own brief case. Im told that the price for the radio when it was
manufactured was around $6,000 dollars.
The radio is in great condition and the signal reception is amazingly clear.
Im wondering if anyone on the list might be able to provide me with any
additional information on the radio and/or direct me when to look for more
information as I cant find much at all on the Internet. Also, if anyone
might have an idea of its current value Id appreciate hearing your
thoughts.
Thanks,
