Its all in Osterman's book. I owned all these rigs. The 2280 is the
predecessor of the 82, not the overall series.

The 82 added some features, see Osterman. If you don't own a copy, get one.

-----------------
Hi John

Much as I think Osterman is a great book it does contain errors.
I haven't got my copy to hand but I do have the 2280 manual in front of me
and what you're saying directly contradicts what Plessey had so say about
their own receivers so I'm afraid this looks to be one of those errors.

All models are marked 2280, but the 1985 Plessey manual specifically refers
to the receivers as the 2280 "series" and identifies two main models.
These are the 2281 and 2282 as Michael noted, with their module
configuration identified in Table 1 right at the beginning of the manual followed by a
comment that the configuration of model 2283 varies according to application.

Again as Michael commented, the 2281 and 2282 share all modules except for
the front panel.
The all singing all dancing "2280", with full front panel controls etc,
really is the 2282 and that's straight from the horses mouth.

Dave, if you'd like a pdf copy of the manual email me off list and I'll sort
out getting a copy to you.

regards

Nigel
