[Premium-Rx] Strong Signals

Evening All,

I thoroughly recommend a perusal of Brooke Clarke's site, referred to in his
posting today. What grabbed me was his spectrum plot (dated 2002) for 0 -
200 kHz. I did a similar plot on Sunday while searching for some dreadful
local QRM (traced eventually to an apartment close by).

We were both using indoor antennas connected to spectrum analysers - in his
case an AMRAD active whip and in mine a Welbrook loop.

What was interesting was the comparisons between his signal strengths (which
may be typical for much of the USA) and the situation at my place, about 6
miles SW of Central London which is also likely to be typical for these
parts.

Brooke's strongest signal was -59dBm at 160MHz. Mine was -26dBm at 198kHz
(BBC Radio 4), and there were a few others of equal or higher strength here
above 200kHz.

Some difference!
