Progress! I have an older RF-505A that has needed repair for the last one
and a half years. It had a few bad chips that were obsolete motorola MC
series TTL gates and a flip-flop. After looking on-line, none of the semi
suppliers would help me since I didn't need hundreds of them. Most
wouldn't even respond. Many on the verge of being rude since I'm a
hobbyist and not a "professional". You know, the nerve of wasting their
time. But I kept plugging away occasionally and one larger place could
not help me w/small qtys but referred me to New Jersey semiconductor who
had the chips with a very low minimum. Anyway, they tell me the chips
were shipped Friday. In the interim, I wired newer 7400 series chips in
(won't fit completely) and unit is working as of last night so it looks
like the orig chips will get me right up and running. This might not be
too interesting to anybody but these old Harris rigs are really worth
preserving. SSB was astounding last night.
