Last week I received what I thought was an 8617B-(S1). I looked at the front
panel and found that it was marked 8618B-(S1). That was just the beginning.
I started looking the radio over very carefully. It's really odd. I still
don't know exactly what I have. The radio is in nice shape, needs a
cleaning, and works flawlessly. I documened the radio as I serviced it.

The radio tunes from 0 to 500 MHz. It receives from 100 KHz to 500 MHz.
Filters are 6.4, 10, 50, and 100 KHz. There are four additional factory
tagged BNC jacks on the rear panel marked USB, LSB, WB IF OUT, and BUILT IN
TEST. USB and LSB audio come from the rear jacks no matter what you select
on the front panel. Cards A3A1, A3A2, and A3A22 are missing, appear to never
have been installed and are bypassed. I documented the EPROM'S and switch
settings. The SSB card has been replaced with a card that I cannot ID. It
has two dual 10.7 KHz / 2.2 KHz filters loaded and four adjustment pots.

I would appreciate any comments on this configuration. It is not just an
8618B. BTW: when you hold the MAN key down it comes up b .312.

Best Regards,
Steve Pappin
