Hi everyone,

I am looking for a preselector for my Harris RF-590 receiver, and wonder
if any of you gentlemen might have one available at a reasonable price.
A new 50 kW AM station just started service here in the Glendale, AZ
area, with its antenna tower(s) only about a couple of miles away from my
home QTH! The received signal strength from this station operating at
1,360 kHz is well over 500 mV! The resulting front-end overload is
overwhelming the receivers ability to operate properly.
I am using a Wellbrook ALA-1530 loop antenna that until recently worked
beautifully, but now seems to be acting strangely, possibly because it
too is being overloaded. I seems to have developed a loose connection or
something, because when I use the rotator to turn it back and forth it
will sometimes work properly, and then other times will give me 20 to 50
mV of noise that sort of sounds like it is modulated, but cannot be
decoded in any of the different modes (AM, SSB, FM or CW). I plan to take
the antenna down (a big pain!) and tighten the screws that fasten the
loop to the rest of the assembly, maybe that will help. It sure is rather
frustrating, and I wonder if anyone else using this antenna has
experienced a similar problem?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Pete KA5FUN
