[Premium-Rx] Premium-Rx Admin: Moving to the new List server

Premium-Rx Members:

The Premium-Rx list will move to a new server effective February 5, 2007.  The only change for most subscribers is that posts will have to go to our new address: Premium-Rx at mailman.qth.net

In an effort to facilitate a seamless move, the old server will remain in operation for a few weeks to give everyone a chance to make the change. During this overlap interval, both servers will be active.

Whichever server you post to, the email will be sent to all current subscribers. Once the old server ceases operation, anyone attempting to post to the old server will receive an auto-reply pointing to the new server address and asking that the email be reposted there.  This will continue until the end of May at which time premium-rx at ml.skirrow.org will no longer exist.


As we make this move you will need to be watchful for the following items:

* Official notice of move*
  *BEFORE* February 5 you will receive an automated notice from our new server welcoming you.  This is all you will get about how to use     the new server. However, *PLEASE DON'T* post to the new server until Feb. 5, or your post may not go to all subscribers.

*Password*
  The automated notice from the server will include a *NEW PASSWORD* for your new subscription. I can't move the old passwords from the current server because I don't know what they are!  If you want to access your new subscription options, or change the password, you MUST have the one the server sends.

  I urge everyone to either record this password, or change it to one you'll remember. I will set the server so it reminds you of your password monthly, at least for the first few months.

*Account Settings*
  Many of you have set various options on your current subscription.  The only options that will be transferred are the "Receive Mail in Digest Form" setting, and the "Hide" setting for those who keep their email address private. Anything else will need to be reset by you.

*Archives*
  All previous Premium-Rx archives will remain at the old address for now. However all posts to the new server, after February 5, will be archived on the new server.

*Key Dates*
  February 5: New server becomes operational. After that all posts should go to: premium-rx at mailman.qth.net.

  February 5 to 21:  Both servers will be operational.
  February 21:  premium-rx at ml.skirrow.org will no longer accept posts.  An automated warning will remind anyone who tries to post to redirect their post to premium-rx at mailman.qth.net

  May 30: The old server,  premium-rx at ml.skirrow.org will cease to exist.

*Suspended Accounts*
  Over the past year, an alarming number of accounts have been automatically suspended by the old server due to email bouncing.  This likely resulted from subscriber email address changes that were not communicated to the server. Even though suspended, these accounts will be transferred to the new server.  After a time, they will be automatically unsubscribed again if the address isn't updated.  So if you're reading this in the archives, and wonder what happened, contact one of us!
