[Premium-Rx] RA 1792 displays

I've recently 'acquired' a number of surplus Racal RA1792s, most of which
I'll be attempting to restore for local Air Training Corps squadrons here in
the UK. As might be expected, most of the displays are well past their best.
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is there a good source of
replacement LCDs for the 1792?

I'm also having a lot of trouble with the dreaded ST82912 CPU board. All
three examples I have display 1983 date codes; none of them appear to work
as advertised despite looking in good condition and embodying what appear to
be relatively new backup batteries. Do these need a SCORE or GPIB card to be
present in the receiver to operate, and can a faulty SCORE/GPIB card stop
the CPU board working? Is the poor reputation of the 1792's CPU board
justified?

Any help very gratefully received.
