Hi!

I don't think you can avoid some hardware.
The best solution probably is a SDR-14. You can use it with any IF as
long as its < 30MHz.
Just hook it up to the IF output and look.
But some receivers, like the 6790 only deliver the BW you've selected.
I'm currently working on a solution to get the 40.455MHz converted to
10.7MHz +/- 100kHz and feed that into the SDR-14.
But I still need to buy a SDR-14. ;-)

Corollary question:

Someone in Deutschland sells a mixer that takes 455kc down to audio for 
DSP or DRM or similar; also easy to homebrew.

Has anyone here used this or other mixer in concert with some PC audio 
spec an apps as panadaptor?
